Natural arch off the coast of Santa Cruz, California

Came across this photo and I don’t know where this is. It’s pretty fucking majestic though.

Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordering Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and UzbekistanIt is farther from an ocean than any other country in the world.

The mountainous region of the Tian Shan covers over 80% of the country (Kyrgyzstan is occasionally referred to as “the Switzerland of Central Asia”, as a result).

Sunset at the edge of the Gobi Desert, which covers parts of northern and northwestern China, and of southern MongoliaThe Gobi Desert is the source of many important fossil finds, including the first dinosaur eggs.

The Milky Way above Mount Rainier, Washington State. I’m amazed by the colors of this photograph. Looking at this, it’s impossible not to ponder how unbelievably fucking small we are.

Taken by talented photographer Dave Morrow.

An active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707, Mount Fuji lies about 100 kilometers south-west of Tokyo.

I saw it irl a couple of years ago, shit was so beautiful i almost cried.

This is the Heart Nebula. It is an emission nebula showing glowing gas and darker dust lanes. The nebula is formed by plasma of ionized hydrogen and free electrons. It is 200 light years across, and its center hosts the massive hot stars of a newborn star cluster that is only 1.5 million years young. Thats some badass nebula right there.

Mount Rinjani or Gunung Rinjani is an active volcano in Indonesia on the island of LombokOn the top of the volcano is a 6 x 8.5 km caldera, which is filled partially by the crater lake known as Segara Anak (Child of the Sea)

A massive eruption of Rinjani in 1258 CE may have triggered the Little Ice Age. I’ve never even heard of the Little Ice Age before, interesting stuff.

This is actually a photo of the sun, taken with an hydrogen-alpha filter on the lens. It captures a narrow band of light that contains the frequency of photons emitted when a hydrogen’s electron drops from the 3rd energy level to the 2nd. More.

Sunset over Tunnels Beach on Kauai, Hawaii. Jurassic Park was shot on this island. Know how to make a sunset better? Thats right, you just fucking add some dinosaurs.

The Dolomites are a mountain range located in north-eastern Italy. It is a part of Southern Limestone Alps and extends from the River Adige in the west to the Piave Valley (Pieve di Cadore) in the east. Dramatic as fuck.

Mute it, and watch this shit with the soundtrack (preferably the track End Of Line) from Tron Legacy playing. Goosebumps guaranteed.

Northern Lights, aka aurora borealis. Auroras result from emissions of photons in the Earth’s upper atmosphere. Space weather.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia, after rainfall. This is the worlds largest salt desert at 10,582 square kilometers. It is covered by a few meters of salt crust, which has an extraordinary flatness with the average altitude variations within only one meter over the entire area. Dat shit cray.
